The much anticipated Winter 2010 is almost here. The official opening ceremony of the 21st Olympic Winter Games is course in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, February 12, 2010. But before the torch relay Olympic Winter has traveled around the world since October 30, 2009 to remind people everywhere that the track meet's most prestigious broadcast is never within our grasp.
As torchbearers help officials will be about 12,000 Canadian citizens in general. These include Canadian celebrities like Sidney Crosby, hockey player and the beautiful Shania Twain. The Mayor of Victoria, was very happy to have the torch relay will start in his city as they have hosted and co-organized several international sports events successfully in the past. Again, Greater Victoria will be honored which is something very exciting for Mayor Alan Lowe and the elected mayor, Dean Fortin.

The route of the relay Torch began in October in the historic city of Olympia, Greece. After that, fans have loops back and forth to North America Europe to Asia, visiting all major cities across. In November there was a loop for Nova Scotia, Whitehorse, Yukon, and in December the torch lit Niagara Falls and Windsor. The tour will end just before the opening ceremonies in West Vancouver inside BC Place Stadium in Vancouver.
The torches used for this 2010 Torch Relay are made from designers Bombardier Inc.’s Aerospace division. They beautiful white torches that have the Olympics logo and an ode to Vancouver on it. HIDs are not the primary light source rather fire is the main source of energy. Actress Maria Napfliotou played the role of the High Priestess this year and ignited the flame with the use of a parabolic mirror and the sun’s ray. Now how about that for pumping us up for the winter games!
