Gloves Men
Below this line is the continuum of Armistead Maupin, the name of the guy who wrote a series of books called Tales of the City. Imagine a line. At one end, gays are men, beside them straight women beside them men and straight to the other extreme, homosexual women. It's supposed to show that gay men actually have less in common with gay women, but it also shows another truth home.
That in-Pally Pally issues, gay men and women are right for bail. Big Time (according to him, of course that guys take over well with lesbians, but that's another whole conversation around the grill).
This proximity has had a significant effect on some of my boyfriends. I've always had gay male friends. They eat a part of me that a lover can not, that even girlfriends could not. The intuitive part, the impulsive part, the bad part. It's so easy to relate to my friend Bert, to discuss the disgusting, profane and not practice without fear of appearing less than perfect (love) or stupid (girlfriends). I do not know too many straight guys who had happily shop for parasites at a flea market for hours, discussing global trends of vacation, Obama's body language and emphasize the difference between teal and gasoline on the summer catwalks of Milan.
The bottom line is that when I find the man who has no problem with diversity I bring to our lives, there will be a keeper. Up that he developed an intimate relationship with a hot lesbian. Then, the gloves are off. Hey, we girls are allowed contradictions.
